Drowning Rescue
How to Save a Drowning Person
• Near shore: Use hands or tree branches to pull victim.
• Far from shore: Throw floating objects (buoy, rope) for them to hold.
• Too far: Shout for help immediately.
• If you can't swim: DO NOT jump in. Throw objects or call for help.
If You Can Swim
• Use a buoy/floating object to approach.
• If victim is conscious: Signal them to hold buoy, pull to shore.
• If victim is exhausted: Approach from BEHIND. Reach under armpits, hold buoy in front, swim on back.
• No buoy? Use a rope tied to waist if available.
Critical Safety Note
If victim struggles strongly, DO NOT let them hug you. They may pull you down. Always approach from behind.
If they grab you, dive down to break grip.

1. Place in dry, airy place.
2. If unconscious: Perform CPR immediately.
